Whilst most people’s diaries won’t extend past December at the time of writing – mostly because we haven’t bought a new one yet – January should not be overlooked when it comes to events. Though the festive season may have ended, January still offers a wealth of exciting events and opportunities for those staying at the Park Avenue J Hotel during the off-peak season.

This blog will outline some of the exciting performances, art events and everything in between that visitors at accommodation near Hyde Park London can enjoy at the beginning of 2022. Whilst Christmas is no longer an excuse for festivities, you can still enjoy everything that the city has to offer in January.

Hogwarts In The Snow

Head on down to Warner Brothers Studios in Leavesden and enjoy the family favourite Harry Potter Tour with a festive twist. The extensive behind the scenes look at the making of the Harry Potter films includes authentic sets, artwork and models and until the 16th of January will also include snowy set dressing. Christmas and winter scenery plays a big part in the Harry Potter films and so it makes sense that the official Harry Potter Tour conjures the magic of the season.

London Short Film Festival

The London Short Film Festival takes place over 9 days at some of London’s most celebrated cinemas including the Ritzy, the Rio and Rich Mix in Shoreditch. For bitesize film art and an introduction to the medium that has sparked the careers of many of the worlds best filmmakers, there’s no better festival for cinephile tourists to sink their teeth into.

Burns Night

From church ceremonies to special restaurant menus, the Scottish tradition of Burns Night takes place on the 25th of January and celebrates the life of Scotlands famous poet Robert Burns. The 18th-century poet established a Scottish tradition of poetry and literature and with whiskey, haggis and toasts to the Scottish bard himself, Burns Night is a great way to learn more about the culture and cuisine of the UK.
